Program: Don't Get Burned by Retaliation Claims
Speaker: Zack Scharlepp, J.D.   Florida State University College of Law

The program goals and objectives are:

    • To provide an overview of employment laws containing anti-retaliation provisions
    • To provide an update on recent cases involving retaliation claims
    • To remind human resources professionals to include prohibition against retaliation in policies and procedures
    • To provide examples of how managers can engage in subtle retaliatory actions that may give rise to causes of action
    • To provide direction to employers on how to avoid retaliation claims

Attorney Zack Scharlepp represents public and private employers against claims of employment discrimination including claims of race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, sex, disability and retaliation.  He provides legal assistance to employers in pre-suit matters through consultation on personnel and management issues and managing investigation of employee complaints or grievances.  He also represents both private and public employers before the Florida Commission on Human Relations and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission against claims of discrimination and retaliation, obtaining numerous "no Cause" determinations.
