    Topic:  COMPOSITION 101- Effective Writing for the HR Practitioner

    Presenter:   Richard Margulies

    Richard Marguliesis the Managing Partner of the Jackson Lewis LLP office in Jacksonville, Florida.  His entire legal career has involved the representation of management clients exclusively in employment related matters.  Mr. Margulies is rated AV by Martindale Hubbell and has been recognized in the 2008-2012 editions of Best Lawyers in America for Labor and Employment Law and a Florida Super Lawyer 2009-2012.

     Mr. Margulies’ practice is concentrated in two primary areas.  First, he regularly counsels human resource professionals and in-house counsel on workplace related issues and compliance strategies, including the drafting of executive employment agreements, personnel policies, and separation agreements.  Mr. Margulies has extensive experience in WARN compliance, having served as counsel for a number of the largest facility closings and reductions in force in North Florida in the last decade.

    Mr. Margulies’ second area of focus is in the representation of employers before state and federal administrative agencies and in federal and state courts under Title VII, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans With Disabilities Act, ERISA, the Family and Medical Leave Act and the Fair Labor Standards Act, as well as related tort, trade secret and contract-based litigation.  Mr. Margulies’ representation has resulted in numerous published case decisions.

    After graduating with honors from the University of Virginia in 1976, Mr. Margulies worked in the food service industry and owned a restaurant located in Charlottesville, Virginia.  He then went to law school and, after graduating from Stetson University College of Law in 1986, moved to Jacksonville.
