Presentation Title: Using Language to Move Organizations, Careers and Relationships Forward: Breaking Down the Barriers to Effective (Difficult) Conversations.

    Presented By: Marian Morlock

At the heart of every relationship is the conversation.  How we interface with our employees, our bosses, our colleagues, our customers  and our partners is instrumental to how well we work together and ultimately to the results we achieve.  When times are great, no problem.  When there is a difficult message to deliver, such as an employee not meeting expectations, or a boss showing signs of favoritism, many will avoid having the discussion.  We close our eyes and hope that the situation will improve on its own.

Rarely is this the result.  Sales teams miss quotas, organizational leaders are blind to hidden talents, frustrated employees search for new opportunities.  The truth is we often shy away from that which makes us uncomfortable.  In this interactive session, learners will consider risks and benefits to avoiding challenging discussions, will learn about their own barriers and will leave with practical information that will prepare them for their next challenging discussion.

    Learning Objectives:

    1. Participants will identify barriers impacting their ability to have difficult conversations.
    2. Participants will learn techniques for having non-threatening communication
    3.  Learners will learn the 6 steps to having an effective ‘difficult’ conversation.
